Darwin engine change & inspection
The Avon jet engine from an aging Aussie Canberra or the Beaver Pratt and Whitney radial are being considered to get me across China quicker but what I really want is a small turbine to run on AVtur (diesel)
Can anybody help...... rumour has it a 100lb turbine can be found in each Harrier jump jet to get the mains turning?.
The Russians currently are being very auckward about allowing petrol aircraft to cross their eastern airspace. They even insist on a Commissar or "navigator" to be in the aircraft in case one might get lost or take the wrong photograhph. This also pushing up cost...
If any one can help on the turbine side or lives in the Darwin area andcan help me strip her down in late march, please make contact. She is, at the moment, sleeping under the wing of a gurt B52 in the Museum.....Thankyou
About Maurice Kirk
Maurice was born 12th March1945, a war baby, in Taunton, Somerset, West of England, within a final family of four brothers and one sister while mother and father were working 24/7 to run a country veterinary practice. Country pursuits very much dominated his spare time from most sports with his passion still for hunting , shooting and fishing!
Maurice is currently trying to fly to South Africa in his WW2 Piper Cub,registration G-KURK. His other D-Day Cub, G-KERK, is destined, on skis, for a rather taller mountain after his promise to Sir Edmond, six years ago. Meanwhile, the task of obtaining justice in the UK courts, in order to practice veterinary surgery, is proving to be somewhat elusive.Authority has quite another agenda.
