Pfeiferella, my first daughter's real name, as it is that that she was first registered by, is talking somewhere in London tonight. Registered, that is, until her mother overheard a somewhat mumbled chat of her father's, with friends, late one night, following some of Dad's very, very good cider. 'Fifi' for short, was named, actually, after my 1935 Austin 7, dragged out of a Bristol scrap yard, on the banks of the river Severn, back in 1963 and bought for 25 bob. Veterinary students of my generation, of course, will remember 'pfeiferella mallei' was an actino bacillus, named after Professor Pfeiffer, who discovered it, an unpleasant discease causing havoc with horses during both World Wars.

The 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, reminded me of this story, whilst amongst ageing Bretons, with medals, also on sticks, a frightening reminder to me of just how easy our next generation is in danger of not realising just what the 'Blair Era' has ridiculed in less than a generation.

Foot note. At the strike of 9, the very next morning, Belinda's mother, appeared, 'hot foot', at the Taunton Registry Office, Somerset, just in time to change her name, on the one month dead line! Oh, the things we parents sacrifice, just for our children.

Hip Replacement Needed

Beaten up in St Peter Port by bouncers jumping on my back and crashing to the floor but I am the one arrested, left handcuffed in hospital bed for 16 hours with a dislocated hip.

Now, 20 years later, delay in a hip replacement due to CPS and Dr Tegwyn Williams refusing to disclose the medical records falsified for Crown Court to attempt my incarceration in Ashworth Psychiatric Hospital, IPP, thus avoiding the 'machine gun trial' that was never meant to be..Ouch, no wonder it hurts!
